Position Description

 

Job Title:   Production Manager

Department:  Packaging Equipment

Location:   Philadelphia Suburb

Reports to:  Department Director

 

Responsibilities:

 Position is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure the Packaging Equipment department is able to deliver quality products to its customers in a safe and timely manner within established cost targets.

o   Direct supervision of manufacturing team members (technicians, labor and machinists).

o   Oversee the construction of all internal departmental projects and provide input for projects in how they affect other departments and teams.

o   Oversee the construction of all outside manufacturing including parts, assemblies and machines.

o   Develop and train personnel to in processes to assemble and test equipment, as well as in the company sponsored problem solving methodology.

o   Eliminate all constraints to meet cyclical and project demands. 

o   Ensure all internal construction projects are delivered on-time, per scope and thoroughly tested and documented, per the specified protocol.

o   Schedule internal machine shop work, manage quality of work, order supplies and perform cost accounting for parts produced.

o   Understand machine capacity levels

o   Track production to ensure standard rates are met

o   Ensure in-process quality through operator contact and layered process audits

o   Deliver production schedules as developed by Engineering staff

o   Support field service and customer needs with technical staff by providing field support for projects and phone support for issues/problems at customer sites.

o   Support and participate in the Safety programs

o   Ensure employee safety and adherence to safety policies and procedures, as well as GMP, AIB and environmental policies.

o   Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.



* Key Attributes:

* Demonstrated ability to manage groups of technical persons to successfully complete multiple build projects.

* Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electric and pneumatic schematics.

* A minimum of 5 years experience in the area of production supervision/management of a job shop type of facility.

* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with machine shop operations.


* Demonstrated ability to manage daily/weekly production tasks such as issues relating to maintenance, staffing, scheduling, and safety.

* Demonstrated career growth in terms of number of direct reports and complexity of handling staffing, scheduling and safety matters.

* Demonstrated experience related to the manufacturing processes of metal forming, heat treating, machining, and grinding.

* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or Manufacturing Operations.
  • Experience in bringing machined assemblies together and building a final product is mandatory for success in this position.
  • 5 to 7 years of direct supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (metals machining, fabrication, etc.)
  • Understanding of AIB requirements. (cGMP's, FDA, 3A)
  • Willing to travel (as needed). 

·         Experience with capital equipment construction is desirable.

Position Description

 

Job Title:   Engineering Manager

Department:  Packaging Equipment

Location:   Philadelphia Suburb

Reports to:  Department Director

 

Responsibilities:

 Position is responsible for leading day-to-day engineering design for liquid and dry machines as well as upgrades to the current fleet, to ensure Packaging Equipment Department (PED) is able to deliver quality products to its customers in a safe and timely manner within established cost targets.

o   Directly supervise staff of six mechanical and electrical engineers

o   Oversee design of all internal departmental projects and provide input for projects in how they affect their departments.

o   Eliminate all constraints to meet cyclical and project demands.  

o   Ensure all internal design projects are delivered on-time, per scope and thoroughly documented, per the specified protocol.

o   Schedule design work, manage quality of work, order supplies and perform cost accounting for design produced.

o   Understand engineering capacity levels

o   Track production to ensure standard rates are met

o   Ensure in-process quality through regular design reviews and sign-offs

o   Deliver equipment SOP's and machine documentation (manuals, schematics, BOM's, spare parts lists, etc.), complete and on schedule for each project.

o   Provide support to the manufacturing team members (technicians, labor and machinists) with regards to design and assembly.

o   Provide support to Procurement in regards to parts design, ease of construction and cost reduction of parts.

o   Support field service and customer needs with technical staff by providing filed support for projects and phone support for issues/problems at customer sites.

o   Provide support to the sales teams as needed.

o   Support and participate in the Safety programs

o   Ensure employee safety and adherence to safety policies and procedures, as well as GMP, AIB and environmental policies.

o   Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Position Description

 

POSITION:            Specialty Market Manager                                    

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Sales & Marketing

LOCATION: Eastern Pennsylvania

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Specialty Market Manager is a vital leadership position within the company, possessing (having) the responsibility, authority, and passion to champion all company initiatives to significantly grow the Specialty business segment. The Specialty business segment includes engineered resins, agricultural chemicals, specialty chemicals, and pet food.  (Specialty in essence covers all non-coffee and non-food and beverage). Projected 2011 revenue for this segment is approximately $25 million. Packaging applications include both dry and liquid products. Primary package format sold into these markets are pre-made bags and discreet flat pouches and standup pouches using high-barrier multi-layer material structures. Market Manager will play a critical role in developing the Specialty business, a market which will strategically diversify the company's sales portfolio and one in which the Company intends to become a major player. The position will report into the Vice President, Sales & Marketing. Currently there are three Sales Representatives dedicated full-time to Specialty and two Sales Representatives that dedicate a portion of their time to Specialty, all reporting into the Director of Sales.  Experience in developing successful sales and marketing strategies within the customized packaging industry is required and critical and immediate objectives for the role include;

 

·      Developing new business for Specialty flexible packaging materials and equipment.  Main area of focus will be to expand the sales of existing product offerings into new and existing markets within the Specialty business portfolio.

 

·      Exploring opportunities in new market segments that are deemed to be suitable for product offerings and consistent with the overall system strategy.

 

·      Developing creative strategies around selling a packaging system including packaging materials, packaging machinery, technology and innovation, and service.  The Market Manager will work in conjunction with the Packaging Equipment Sales team as it relates to equipment opportunities.  This will be done by either following through on material opportunities where they have developed equipment prospects or utilizing Packaging Equipment Team as part of the process for systems opportunities.

 

     RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Strategically and tactically accountable for the nationwide development and growth of the Specialty business within assigned target markets.

 

·         Provide leadership, direction, and support to Sales in selling into Specialty markets. Actively call on targeted accounts within assigned markets in order to identify and develop systems sales opportunities. 

 

·      Develop and implement creative market penetration strategies for assigned areas of responsibilities.

·      As Team Leader, partner with other company resources, to identify and qualify potential new target customers and/or markets with either existing technology and/or promotion of new technologies.

·      Be the key stakeholder within the company to drive package innovation in Specialty.

 

·      Provide creative ideas to the organization, as well as prospects/customers to ensure successful growth of the assigned markets.

 

·      Develop knowledge of customers/markets needs to help identify new niches for the company to pursue.

 

·      Monitor competitive activity in the Specialty business sector, identifying ways of staying ahead of the competition and being seen as the number one vendor by customers.

 

·      In concert with Marketing Coordinator, develop advertising and sales promotional literature to create a consistent and effective marketing message within the Specialty Market

 

·      Be an internal and external ambassador for the company; a professional who is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to showcase the Company.

 

REQUIREMENTS

·      Undergraduate degree with ideally an MBA or relevant post graduate degree.

 

·      A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years' customer facing sales experience with significant prior experience managing the development of new customers within the packaging industry.

·      An individual with a proven track record of success in business development in targeted market segments, as well as the ability to seek out opportunities in additional market sectors.

 

·      Proven ability to create a persuasive sales strategy that has led to sales growth.

 

·      A strong relationship developer who has both existing relationships that will be incremental business as well as the ability to develop new relationships that will lead to new sales.

 

·      Deep knowledge of flexible packaging materials and package formats commonly used in the Specialty market segments with a clear understanding of the competitors and their products.

 

·      Prior field team management and development required. Able to analyze individual and team progress though sales and call metrics to ensure sales targets are met.

 

·      A strong relationship developer who has team building skills and can work effectively in cross functional groups.

Position Description

Finish Manager - Operations

Job Responsibilities:

The Finish Manager is responsible for managing the Finish department which includes: Slitting, Packing, Bag Making, Pouch Making, and other finishing operations. This person will lead the implementation of the Operational Excellence program in order to meet goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.

1.Provide leadership to the Pouch making, Bag making, Slitting and Packing functions.

2.Evaluate and lead improvements to the bag and pouch value stream through both line management and indirect responsibility of downstream processes.

3.Lead safety programs and improvements within the Slit / Pack and Finish Departments.

4.Lead quality improvements and manage AIB compliance within the Finish and Slit / Pack areas.

5.Drive improvements in on-time-delivery and reduced lead times for Bags and Pouches.

6.Drive cost reductions through productivity and scrap improvements.

7.Drive cost reductions through managing the Slit / Pack and Finish budgets.

8.Implement WCM techniques to achieve above.

9.Evaluate innovative technologies and make capital recommendations for the Slit / Pack and Finish areas.

10.Assist in the professional development of direct reports.

11.Support and ensure progress of Technical Improvement Teams, measured against goals and timelines focusing on higher quality and productivity.

12.Function as a liaison between departments and personnel to ensure continuity in the implementation of plans.

13.Communicate goals and measurements to the department.

14.Communicate effectively throughout the Fres-co organization and directly to customers and suppliers.

Required Qualifications:

•Undergraduate degree in related field or strong equivalent experience

•5 - 10 years of management experience in finishing operations

•Continuous improvement certifications such as Lean or Six Sigma or equivalent experience

Strong knowledge of bag and pouch making, slitting, and packing operations

•Knowledge of good manufacturing practices

•Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM

•Knowledge of Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and control plan methodology

•Demonstrated implementation of above skills / knowledge

•Strong orientation to delivery results

•Ability to build relationships throughout the organization for effective communication

•Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment

•Able to come in on off-shifts to resolve issues related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost

•Must be able to travel when necessary (~15%)

 

Position Description

Sales Rep - Flexible Packaging Coffee Market

Job Responsibilities:

Development of new business at small coffee roasters that could be located throughout the U.S. and Canada, with primary focus being east of the Mississippi.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and increase sales through a progression of the following steps and activities:

?Train and learn the Coffee Market, as well as how our Client's Company operates.

?Responsible for the business at various existing custom printed coffee roasters that are to be transitioned from other Sales Representatives.

?Development of new business at coffee roasters through various means including:

?Telephone calls (incoming and cold calls)

?Trade show leads

?Web site leads

Responsibilities will be handled primarily via electronic methods - telephone, e-mail, etc. Actual customer visits will occur to those customers that warrant/require personal contact to facilitate overall business conditions.

Provide proper service level to customers by managing the activity of the other departments that interact with account: Customer Service, Graphics, Engineering & Technical.

Offer both our Client  and customers/prospects creative ideas to grow the business and find ways of developing new win/win opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree (MBA a plus)

Minimum of 2-3 years of post degree work experience, preferably either in a technical field or in actual sales related position. Actual experience in flexible packaging material and/or machinery industry is a plus.
